Judite

Judite explores the combination of language, loss, grief, and identity. After losing my grandmother, the person I shared Portuguese with the most, I find myself “deslocada” (dislocated) from my mother tongue, reaching for words that no longer come naturally, and having to translate from what was once mine to what now is much more (English). What follows is an attempt to translate my grandmother’s letters to her dead mother, knowing full well that true translation is impossible. Written in English, a language my grandmother never knew, and now will never know as well, these letters become double failures.

Alma de Mestre

Creation of old vintage ephemera from sea farers in Portugal, as well as handwritten letters and tales, based on a personal family story.


Museum Wallpaper

For the museum Jan, I made wallpapers directed at their Fong Leng exhibition. The briefing was to recreate the textile patterns in her clothes. This was during my Dana Dijkgraaf internship.


Windmill Book


With the start point of taking in all the windmills in the Rijksmuseum archive’s paintings, I made a book wherein they’re front stage, zoomed in and labelled.

Wildfire Boardgame

For the exhibition at Rozet Arnhem, “Climate: Affordances”, I decided to make a boardgame about Wildfires in the Mediterranean region, including countries such as Italy, Spain, Morocco, and Portugal.


South Side Guide

I made a few paper guides, that can be folded into origami fish, showcasing my hometown and area, the south side of Portugal.
